Baumberauschen
was part of the series Kunst- Identität
held in Neuköolln, a socially speaking
problematic district in Berlin. Two trees in the
park were suited with two leaf-shaped plexiglas
speakers each. Each tree had its own sonic identity:
one with terracotta-pots percussive sounds and the
other with a female voice. A third remote tree was
located in Kreuzberg, a nearby district, without
speakers but suited with sensors. The remote tree
was connected to Neukölln using a wireless cellular
network provided by Moobycent. The tree in
Berlin provided distinct sounds due to specific wind
conditions. The installation became a contemplation
site for the normal audience in the park. Several
discussions from the audience about the "right
sounds" for this installation took place during the
time it was on. |
